Cleveland Botanical Garden

The Cleveland Botanical garden with its origins dating back to 1930 is located in the neighborhood of University Circle, Cleveland, Ohio. Originally, this was christened as the Garden Center of Greater Cleveland and was the first of such organizations in America. The home for the original garden was boathouse on Wade Park Lagoon, which was suitably converted. At that time, the center served more as a horticultural library and offered workshops and classes for gardeners and encouraging beautification projects within the community.

By 1966, the center had outgrown its original abode and moved to the present location near the University Circle. 1994 witnessed the change of name of the center to Cleveland Botanical Garden in order to reflect the dramatic expansion the center had gone through. To develop the facility further, the trustees decided to launch an ambitious campaign to raise capital. Consequently, the expanded and renovated facility was opened in July 2003. There are several attributes of the Garden which can potentially enhance your Cleveland travel experience and to learn more about the facility, you can use the web links provided on this page.
