The Key Tower is an impressive Skyscraper in Cleveland's downtown Public Square. In 1991 when the Key Tower was built, 948 feet 57 story structure became the tallest between Chicago and New York. Adding the ground elevation of 650 foot, it is also the tallest structure in the state of Ohio. The tower houses 1.5 million square feet of office space, most of which is occupied by the headquarters of Key Bank.
Prior to Key Tower the space was known as Society Center and when Key Bank acquired the Society Bank and built the tower, the skyscraper was christened as Key Tower. In 1997 Philadelphia's Comcast center overtook the Key Tower's distinction as the tallest building with a height of 975 foot.
