The Arena was opened in 1994 with the first game played by the Cavaliers. The ownership of the Arena is with the Gateway Economic Development Corporation and the facility is leased to the Cavaliers. In 2006, the Utah Grizzlies which was at that time an inactive franchise of the AHL announced its decision to move to The Q. January 2007 saw the team name change to Lake Erie Monsters and they started playing the 2007-08 season. October 2007 saw yet another move - this time from the Las Vegas Gladiators of AFL. The Q richly deserves to be on top of your Cleveland Ohio travel itinerary.

The Q became part of the revitalization project for Downtown Cleveland christened as the Gateway Project. Dan Gilbert, majority owner of Cavaliers and owner of Quicken Loans renovated The Q almost in its entirety and the renovated facilities were available for the start of 2005-06 season for the Cavaliers. However, all the seats could not be replaced at this point in time since the job had to be done section by section stretched over long periods of time.

Seating capacity at the Q for basketball is 20,562 which includes 92 luxury suites and 2000 club seats. The Q is also home to several tenants other than its own professional sports tenants. The "MAC Madness" which is the MAC women's basketball tournament is among the hot favorite events at the Q drawing record crowd. 10,000 to 15,000 attendees are regularly present for this event both at the semi finals as well as the championship draws. A web link to the events calendar at the Q is provided on this page. Be there to enjoy this wonderful venue when you travel Cleveland Ohio.
